Collins Abinoro (BIOGRAPHY)
Akporode Collins Abinoro has built a remarkable career by transforming everyday objects — particularly recycled materials — into powerful works of art. After completing his studies in Painting and General Art (OND, 2009) and Sculpture (HND, 2012) at Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, Collins became widely known for his unique sculptural works created from repurposed cutlery.
His innovative technique of crafting life-sized human figures without visible armatures sets him apart, creating a sense of fluidity and spontaneity in his sculptures. Beyond the technical mastery in his work, he views his art as a form of communication. Through his practice, he explores themes of culture, racial identity, and human history, using his artistic prowess to spark dialogue and provoke thoughtful reflection.
In addition to his use of cutlery, Collins has also incorporated paper prints and bonded-stone elements into his work, creating a distinctive fusion that pushes the boundaries of traditional sculptural practice.
