Emeka Nwagbara (BIOGRAPHY)
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Emeka Nwagbara is a Nigerian visual artist with a profound passion for art. His passion over the years has led him through diverse career callings. Since the start of his career as a professional studio artist, Emeka has participated in numerous group exhibitions within Nigeria and in the USA.
He works in different media but has most recently settled on charcoal, graphite, oils, and acrylics. Emeka Nwagbara is a member of the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) and the Guild of Professional Fine Artists of Nigeria (GFA). He is a father of three children, a husband to a loving wife, and a drawing and painting instructor.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My art is inspired by everyday life and my surroundings, aimed at beautifying, entertaining, critiquing, and inspiring ideas. Working interchangeably on figures and abstraction has endeared me to the use of colours that evoke deep emotions and inner human sensibilities, used as therapy in specialized medical science. Art for me has become a way of life and a connection with my subconscious—the source of creativity, inner joy, and consciousness.
