Goodness Nnabeze (BIOGRAPHY)
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Goodness Nnabeze is a Nigerian visual artist born in 2002, in Anambra State. She graduated with First Class Honours in Painting from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where she cultivated her fascination with the expressive possibilities of line.
Her practice explores the dynamic interplay of organic lines, color, and form, investigating the complexities of human experience and our interconnectedness with nature. Nnabeze’s airy, line-based figures often appear to dissolve into their surroundings, echoing the transient, ever-shifting nature of human existence. Her work engages themes such as identity, culture, existentialism, and the environmental consequences of human behavior.
In addition to visual media, Goodness expands her practice through sound and poetry, creating immersive experiences that engage multiple senses. By weaving her drawings and writings into soundscapes, she channels the interpretive traditions of African art hermeneutics, offering a contemplative and multi-dimensional perspective on the human condition.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My artistic practice is rooted in a deep fascination with the expressive power of line. Through the interplay of organic lines, color, and form, I explore the ephemeral nature of human existence and our inherent connection to the natural world.
I see art as a powerful vehicle for communication and transformation. My work aims to create a space where viewers are invited to reflect on their own complexity and embrace the beauty of consciousness and shifting perspectives. It is a personal and collective journey of becoming—one that speaks to our fluid identities and the stories we carry.
Through my integration of sound, poetry, and visual language, I aim to capture the interpretive spirit of African art hermeneutics and present a self-aware, evolving view of the human experience.
