Tayo Quaye
Tayo Quaye is a globally acclaimed Nigerian master of printmaking and painting, whose works are featured in prestigious collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; the Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C.; and the Yemisi Shyllon Museum, Lagos.
 

He studied at St. Gregory’s College, Lagos, where he met the legendary printmaker Bruce Onobrakpeya, later apprenticing under him from 1974 to 1976. Quaye went on to earn OND and HND degrees in Painting from Yaba College of Technology in 1978 and 1981, where he was mentored by Yusuf Grillo.

 

His artistic career gained international prominence during his U.S. tours in the 1980s, where he conducted workshops and exhibited in universities and galleries across Arizona, Arkansas, and Washington. Over four decades, Quaye has sustained a practice marked by technical mastery and a profound contribution to modern Nigerian art.
